Minister Gyokov and former Ministers of Labor and Social Policy exchanged ideas for the development of the pension system

Minister Georgi Gyokov held a meeting with former Ministers of Labor and Social Policy. "In the preparation of the coalition agreement for the formation of the government in the social sphere, short-term, medium-term and long-term measures and goals were agreed. Consensus was also reached on the need for further discussion, analysis and renegotiation of a number of policies. We are already implementing some of the agreements, including the 2022 draft budget. All processes are transparent and open to the public", said Minister Gyokov at the beginning of the meeting.

"We have important and difficult decisions ahead in the field of the pension insurance system and social assistance, changes in the policy for people with disabilities and child protection, modernization of activities in the field of employment and control of labor legislation", he said.

The participants in the meeting exchanged ideas for the development of the pension system. They were adamant that it should not be confused with social assistance and agreed that it was not prudent to increase the minimum pension for periods of social insurance and old age in the future.

The possibilities for increasing the effectiveness of policies for people with disabilities were also discussed. The issue of resuming the debate on the labor market and regulating new forms of employment was also raised. The main topic of the conversation was the search for opportunities to use the reserves on the labor market in the conditions of demographic crisis and shortage of workers with appropriate qualifications. Incentives were proposed for working parents and to encourage women to return to work faster after taking maternity leave. Emphasis was also placed on the development of the social economy and long-term care for the elderly and people with disabilities.
