An accessible environment for people with disabilities will be provided in 58 buildings with funding from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy. 54 stair lifts, 6 vertical platform lifts, 7 ramps and 4 elevators will be built in them. The funds for the implementation of the projects are from the National Program for Affordable Housing Environment and Personal Mobility for 2022. 58 projects for accessible environment have been approved under the programme for a total amount of BGN 2.45 million.

Funding contracts are in the process of being signed so that the facilities can be installed and paid for by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy by the end of 2022. Their implementation will provide an accessible environment, a better quality of life and ease the mobility conditions of 86 people with disabilities. The projects will construct 71 facilities in residential buildings in 20 municipalities.

MLSP will also allocate funding for the implementation of 8 project proposals to improve the personal mobility of people with disabilities with a total value of nearly BGN 50,000. Of these, 4 are the purchase of an adapted car and the acquisition of the right to drive it. The other 3 projects will modify the design of the car so that it can be used by a disabled person. 1 project was also approved for the installation of a wheelchair boarding and alighting device.
