THE WARM LUNCH AT HOME PROGRAMME GETS EXTENDED TO 24 JULY
The Warm Lunch at Home Programme will be extended until 24 July 2020, which currently delivers food to nearly 31,000 people in need in 215 municipalities throughout the country. Local authorities will make arrangements to continue the activities and for a soup, a main course, some bread and, at least once a week, a dessert to be delivered daily to elderly citizens, disabled individuals, and people with income below the poverty line.
The targeted programme totals BGN 5.1 million provided by the Bulgarian national budget. It is a continuation of Operation “Providing Warm Lunch” under Food and/or Basic Material Assistance Operation Programme from the Fund for European Aid to the Most Deprived.
During the emergency epidemic state, warm food from soup kitchens was also provided to another 5,500 individuals living alone, people who have become homeless, jobless and without income, as well as social assistance recipients, and quarantined persons in 42 municipalities. Food aid packs continue to be distributed and over 58 000 people have received them since the beginning of the crisis.
